What sport are you involved in?

I’m in cross country.

And how long have you been participating in cross country?

For three years. My freshman, sophomore, and junior year, and I’m going to participate senior year.

What made you decide to join the sport?

At first, I was going to do basketball, that was my main focus. So, I just decided to join cross country, because of running. I needed some stamina. I wasn’t thinking that I was going to continue it, but then once I got into it the season, a lot of people were all friendly and there was a good culture around, so then, I decided to continue it.

What do you like most about it?

It’s just about the vibe. Everyone makes you feel like you belong here. You know they don’t really care if you either run a six-minute mile or you run like a twelve-minute mile…they’ll still accept you.

What has been your most memorable experience running cross country at WEGO?

One of my most memorable experiences was probably that one meet that was on a Saturday, and I remember it was very cold. It was at Cross Creek, and we had to run, and it was so cold that I had to run with my gloves and hat on as well. So, I remember it was hard for me to run that meet because it was so cold, and then once I was finished, I was completely out of breath.

Who inspires you as an athlete?

Probably my dad, because every morning he wakes up and walks, and he always tell me to do it as well, and always pushes me to success.

And who is your favorite athlete?

My favorite athlete is LeBron James.
