Thoughts on some Starbucks drinks

By Melissa Pani, Reporter

I have not really been a big Starbucks person my whole life, and I would not consider myself one even to this day, but recently, I have been going to Starbucks a lot more frequently than usual. Since I have been going, I decided to try new drinks. Some of them are similar, some not: the drinks below depended on what I was feeling that day, or if I saw a new drink on Tiktok. A lot of bucks later, I have gained a little more knowledge on some Starbucks drinks, and here is my review on some of those drinks. Disclaimer this is just my OPINION.

Starting off, I will begin super basic with the Strawberry Acai Refresher. One of my personal favs, and very well-known amongst Starbucks drinkers, the Refresher is just overall basic. I usually get the Strawberry Acai with lemonade and then I blend the flavors because it creates a slushy texture that is really good. I think the only unfortunate part about the blending is that sometimes Starbucks puts way too much ice in the drink, and so you are stuck, in the end, with a little chunk of blended ice at the bottom of the cup. Overall, 10/10 for the Strawberry Acai Refresher because I just get this drink so much.

Next, is the Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, a seasonal drink because of the pumpkin spice flavor. This Frappuccino is a sweet drink, which I like, and the pumpkin spice is so good (soooo gooodddd). The only downside to this drink is the fact that the whipped cream sits on top, so you are unable to get the full effect of the drink unless you mix the whipped cream in. Personally, I say “it is what it is” and leave the whipped cream alone. I would rate this drink a 10/10 as well.

While I loved the first two drinks, it is time to bring up one Starbucks option that is just not it for me: the Hot Apple Crisp Macchiato. Hot drinks are okay sometimes, but not all the time. Maybe it was not the right temperature outside, or maybe I really did not mesh with this drink. It tasted like cinnamon – at least that is what my dad said. The Hot Apple Crisp Macchiato was not particularly sweet, but perhaps the flavor issue was my fault because the sweet “stuff” was stuck at the bottom. I have no idea what it is about this drink, but I do not feel like ordering it again to give it another try. Unfortunately, this macchiato is not worth it. I would give this drink a 6/10 because while it might have been my fault that I did not experience the full apple crisp effect, I am not sure I would recommend the beverage to anyone else.

To end on a positive note, the most recent drink I have enjoyed is the Iced Chai Tea with Pumpkin Foam. I am saddened by the fact this tea will not be in stores for very long, but am a big fan. I have ordered this drink a total of three times already, and only heard about it a week ago. The Iced Chai Tea with Pumpkin Foam is another sweet drink that is just chef’s kiss. My favorite part is indulging in the excess foam from the inside of the lid, which is actually really good. I cannot think of any cons for this drink at the moment – none come to mind. I would recommend this tea to people who like sweet drinks, and would rate it a 10/10 for the time being. Who knows? Maybe I will tire of this seasonal beverage and hate it next week, but until then, thumbs up.

Addendum: I just realized that three-fourths of these drinks are seasonal: RIP. Also, have you tried any of these? What did you think? Any other recommendations?
