The Spring Job Fair invites all students ages 15 and older to meet and interview with employers March 23 in the LRC.

“It  is an opportunity to connect employers and students who are looking for jobs. As we get closer to the summer months, many employers find an increased need for seasonal employees,” special education teacher Anne Dragosh said.

If students wish to have an interview, they must see their counselor or Dragosh for a pass. Companies will be in the LRC from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In the past years, In The Swim was one of the only companies hiring students from the school.

“I invited more employers because I’m hoping for a larger turnout,” Dragosh said.

This year, nine companies will attend the job fair including: In The Swim, District 33, Monarch Landing, West Chicago Park District,  Carol Stream Park District,  Winfield Park District, Prairie Path Cycle, and Western DuPage Special Ree Association.

The spring job fair’s goal is to help students find a seasonal job.

“I think there are a lot of students that want to work and are not always confident of going out finding jobs or are not necessarily sure how to do that,” Dragosh said.

Dragosh advises students to come prepared and act professionally for the interview.

“I think it is going to be competitive. I think it’s important for students to come prepared and treat it as a job experience. Students that found jobs in the past were students that were dressed appropriately, acted maturely, and took it seriously,” Dragosh said.

A successful job fair will allow the event to grow.

“Hopefully it will continue to grow over the next few years, my intention assuming this goes well, is to continue to do this twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring,” Dragosh said.
