Former Chronicle photographer published nationally

The award-winning photograph by former student Theresa Carriveau was featured on the cover of the recent edition of the Journalism Education Association’s national publication.

Carriveau received a superior rating for the photograph at the JEA/National Scholastic Press Association competition in Seattle, Washington in April.

“It means so much to me as a photographer. I thought that getting a superior rating at nationals was amazing and I was genuinely shocked by that,” Carriveau said.

Carriveau was informed of the cover by Wildcat Chronicle adviser Laura Kuehn.

“Making the cover of the magazine was something I never would’ve imagined,” Carriveau said.

For the competition, Carriveau submitted a silhouette photo of graduate Kori King doing a turn on a bold red backdrop, taken at the dance production showcase in January.
