From skating for the fun of it to skating because her family is relying on the income, Adriana Russo has to get back on the ice.
The romantic drama “Finding Her Edge” aired on Netflix on Jan. 22, based on the book by Jennifer Iacopelli.
The family lives on large acres of property and owns its own ice rink that welcomes other skaters to stay in their home as well. From what seems like a good financial stance, the Russo family is slowly falling into debt and losing everything, but only Adriana knows this from helping her dad run the ranch over the past two years.

During a winter showcase to display the athletes’ skills, oldest sister Elise takes a fall and fractures her humerus. Elise was set up for gold in the senior skater category, but after her fall, Adriana takes matters into her own hands and laces up her skates again. The character development of Adriana is super inspirational and almost makes a watcher’s heart start to race with anticipation for her, especially her and her new partner. While the storyline leans into familiar sports and romance tropes, it still manages to feel engaging because of the emotional stakes tied to Adriana’s family situation.
Adriana finds her edge again on and off the ice. From struggling to have chemistry with her new ice dancing partner (Brayden Elliot, played by Cale Ambrozic) to still having deep feelings for her old one (Freddie O’Connell, played by Olly Atkins), Adriana is constantly stuck in a love triangle.
At first, Brayden and Adriana hate each other and refuse to even start a fire, but here is the thing about ice dancing: it requires passion. After some one-on-one connection and some convincing, Adriana and Brayden finally find that spark. Adriana realizes that a sponsor will fund what she needs to help her family, and Brayden begins to see that a Russo girl will improve his “bad boy” image.
The anxiety, intensity, and romance of this show are all fit into eight episodes, but there is no need to worry – a second season is confirmed. Although some plot points feel predictable, the combination of drama and character relationships makes it an entertaining and easy watch.
Even though summer is coming, viewers can still get lost in the world of ice, romance, and rivalry, following the emotions of Brayden, Freddie, and Adriana – along with the friendships and family drama that unfold.
