To honor free comic book day, the LRC will give away free comic books on Friday.

“It is a free national comic book day that will (be) celebrated on Saturday and we will be celebrating it on Friday,” librarian Donna Leahy said.

Giving away free comic books from the library has occurred for five years.

Leahy got the idea from a store in St. Charles.

Around 100 copies will be given away Friday in commons starting zero hour and each person can take only one copy.

“They (people) usually enjoy it,” Leahy said.

Different comic books that will be at the event will be “Riverdale season 3 special,” “DC Comics,” “Avengers,” “13th Doctor,” “Caspers Spookville,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Cristiano Ronaldo Striker Force 7 special,” “Star Wars,” and “Spider-man.”

Leahy plans to continue this event in the future.

“I think it is a nice event that gives kids free comic books that they can read,” Leahy said.

Leahy hopes students take advantage of the event.

“(I hope) to give all the comic books away and get people to read,” Leahy said.
