On Tuesday, the lip synchers met at the informational meeting to practice the lip-dub. The lip-dub will be on Friday.

After finally receiving more than enough lip synchers, broadcasting teacher Dave Jennings and participating lip synchers are preparing for the upcoming lip-dub on Friday.

Because of the lack of student volunteers in the first informational meeting, Jennings and the broadcasting crew believed the lip-dub would not happen.

“I was terrified. I thought we were going to have to scrap it because we had five kids and you can’t obviously do it with five kids. I had one student who was volunteering to just lip synch the entire thing,” Jennings said.

But by the second informational meeting, more than enough students showed up. Around 50 students showed up to the meeting.

“I think people wanted to do it, we just forgot to remind them the day of that, that was going to be the first informational meeting,” Jennings said.

This lip-dub is only the second broadcasting has conducted. There are many changes in this year’s lip-dub compared to the last one.

“We have a totally different route. We have new music and a bigger scope of what we wanted to try and do, just in terms of where we wanted to take people visually,” Jennings said.

This year, English and Spanish music will be used in the lip-dub.

“We feel like it’s more true to who we are as a student body. The last time I heard, we are roughly 60 percent Hispanic,” Jennings said. “Music is a big part of how you celebrate culture heritage and who you are and so, we wanted to use songs that reflected that.”

The students and participants had their first practice on Tuesday after school and will practice again on Thursday as well.

An informational video was in the announcements on Tuesday which explained where clubs or groups would go and the route the camera would take.

The lip-dub will happen during the assembly time on Friday.

“If you’re involved in a club, sport, activity, organization you’ll head to your spot along the route instead of going to the assembly. The people not involved will be in the gym on the bleachers. We’re going to try to do at least two run-throughs,” Jennings said.

If enough students volunteer, the lip-dub will also include a clip of students forming a human “WeGo” and will be filmed after school Friday.

The video, according to Jennings, will most likely come out a week after the video is filmed.
