Multiple educators around the school brought in the little ones for Bring Your Sons and Daughters to School Day, giving students a glimpse into both the school environment and the careers adults take on every day. Carrie Fontanaro, the interim HR officer at West Chicago Community High School, and administrative assistant Roy Ramos are the driving force behind the whole operation.

A number of activities were set up throughout the school for the kids to enjoy, such as a robotics robot they could play with, the soccer net by Entrance 1, and a scavenger hunt throughout the day.

He set up a scavenger hunt for them, and so there’s like nine or 10 scavenger hunt challenges. We had a number of teachers volunteer to provide opportunities in their learning environments. As you saw maybe in the entranceway, one of our deans brought a little soccer net up and was trying to score on him. Then we have our Library Learning Center.

For many of the students visiting WEGO, the event also became a chance to imagine what their own futures and careers might look like one day.
