[LETTER TO THE EDITOR] Attendance office errors cause frustration

In this letter to the editor, a student raises concerns about repeated attendance office errors that falsely mark excused absences as unexcused, urging the Chronicle to address the issue.

Dear Editor,

I want to express my frustration regarding the attendance office.

Whenever I’ve field tripped out for ROAR, AP testing, or actual field trips, my parents receive seven phone calls from the school saying I skipped class all day. This is not the case, as I’ve turned in all the forms needed to me from my classes. My parents have left countless voicemails for the attendance office explaining that I was supposed to be excused from classes, but nothing has changed.

I would love for the Chronicle to do something with this information because I’m tired of being marked absent when I’m in school.

Senior Andrew Cortez is more than just happy to wave off his senior year and adventure into the unknown of life after high school. Andrew loves to hang out with his family, spend money, and be active. He also really loves soccer. You can find Andrew working at his family cafe, establishing himself to be a fundamental piece of the business. Andrew will carry his work ethic into the next chapter of his life, attending trade school at ETI to pursue a career in HVAC.
