A blank field trip form for an upcoming excursion to Navy Pier sits on a desk, highlighting the frustrations some students face when excused absences are mistakenly recorded as unexcused.
Dear Editor,
I want to express my frustration regarding the attendance office.
Whenever I’ve field tripped out for ROAR, AP testing, or actual field trips, my parents receive seven phone calls from the school saying I skipped class all day. This is not the case, as I’ve turned in all the forms needed to me from my classes. My parents have left countless voicemails for the attendance office explaining that I was supposed to be excused from classes, but nothing has changed.
I would love for the Chronicle to do something with this information because I’m tired of being marked absent when I’m in school.
Thanks,
Lauren Dusing
