About the Contributors
Mariah Varnado, Senior Reporter
Senior Mariah Varnado has a passion for performance. She is a strong contributor on WEGO's competitive dance team, and a regular feature in WeGo Drama's theatrical productions. She not only acted in the "The Great Gatsby" and "Freaky Friday", but she also directed the group's performance of "The Brothers Grimm". Most people would describe this junior in high school as "funny", "kind" and "smart".
Ja'Nyah Villa, Editor-in-Training
Ja'Nyah is a Junior this year, and excited to be writing and training for the chronicle! She is very driven and dedicated to her schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Outside of Journalism, Ja'Nyah is an active member of Wego Drama and her hobbies include reading and listening to music. In the future, Nyah hopes to pursue a career in literary editing or journalism after college.
Romeo Alfaro, Reporter
Romeo Alfaro has made the life-changing decision to take Journalism for his final year as a soon-to-be graduate of WEGO.
Romeo is dedicated to running; he has been a part of the track and cross country team since freshman year and made it to Varsity his sophomore year, as well as being promoted captain and given a trophy for being the most improved of the season at his awards night. More importantly though, Romeo is obsessed with Tyler, the Creator, as he reflects his whole personality around him.
Gabriella Castro, Senior Reporter
Introducing Gabriela Castro, a sophomore from West Chicago who, up until this year, had an extensive music career. She was involved in music throughout middle school, and participated in orchestra for eight years, but decided to take a break this year, and is now focusing on other interests. Gabriella loves animals, and has a collection of four dogs, one cat, 12 birds (yes, 12!), and three snakes.
Gabriella is not sure yet what she wants to do when she graduates high school, but she knows she would like to be independent, and have her own apartment.
