Students are invited to participate in the LRC contest for a chance to win a jar full of candy as a part of the “Sweeten your day with a story” event.

“We have a special promotion to increase book circulation to promote reading and, of course, checking out more books,” library media specialist Donna Leahy said.

For every book or eBook check-out, students will receive a chance to guess how many pieces of candy are in a glass jar.

The “Sweeten your day” event runs to Feb. 21 and the winner will be announced on Feb. 22

“(The winner will get) lots of candy, enough to share with their classmates and family,” Leahy said.

The LRC is encouraging students to participate in the event to “remember how sweet it is to read a good book,” Leahy said.

The LRC usually organizes special events for Valentine’s Day for students.

“Every year we do something different. Last year we did books that WeGo loves,” Leahy said. “One year we did hearts where kids filled in like their favorite story they have ever read.”
