For the fourth year, Club’s Green sponsors and staff members will volunteer their time to work at McDonald’s to host their annual McTeacher Night Wednesday.

“(This year we will host the event to) raise money for school planters to make the school go greener,” Club Green adviser Suzanne Burchacki said.

Last year, Club Green raised over $300 and plans to raise the same amount this year.

“Our goal would be to raise enough money to purchase some planters for the school made from recycled plastic,” Club Green adviser Brianne Ferreiro said.

According to Burchacki, the planters will be located by entrance H.

“We want to try to pick plants that look appealing in the winter time as well as the summer, so we want something self-sustaining in the winter, something that appeals to all seasons,” Burchacki said.

Some previous Club Green contributions include the implementation of water bottle filters, benches and LED trophy case lights.

“(We do this) to make the school more environmentally friendly,” Ferreiro said.

Teachers participating include Burchacki, Ferreiro, German teacher Nora Wessels, technical education teacher Ashley Walsh,  chemistry teachers Drew Plumb and Anne Fulmer, foods teachers Angela Gentile and Michelle Cevaal, consumer science teacher Brittney Bauer, and English teacher Tara Deleon.

The teachers will work at the counter taking orders, work as cashiers, make ice cream, and work in the drive-thru.

“(We will work) anything in the front so that we can interact with the students,” Ferreiro said.

Last year, to raise more funds, Club Green sponsors dressed up in a pie costume. However, this year they don’t know whether or not they will have the costume.

“(Last year) teachers dressed up in the (pie) costume and they (McDonald’s) gave us a box of apple pies to sell and whatever we sold we got to keep,” Ferreiro said.

McTeacher night will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the McDonald’s on Route 59 and North Avenue.
