Student Council is sponsoring another change drive for a teacher to dress up in a turkey suit in support of the American Cancer Society from Monday to Nov. 17.

“It is a tradition that has been going on since I’ve been here so more than 10 years,” Student Council sponsor Nick Kempski said.

Student Council members will have cans with the name of each teacher. Whichever male and female teachers have the highest dollar amount will wear a turkey costume all day Tuesday.

Last year the winners were English teacher Kyle Etheridge and biology teacher Brianne Ferrario.

“It’s always something fun that the kids and staff like to do,” Kempski said.

The teachers currently running are social studies teacher John Chisholm, English teacher Mark Begovich, physics teacher Robert Beal, AVID teacher Kempski, gym teacher Vincent Walker, Ferraro, Spanish teacher Brittany Nelson, Spanish teacher Anne Marie Salazar, math teacher Lynn Peto, Spanish teacher Sarah Gill, English teacher Shannon Sanchez and math teacher Kirsten Vondrak.

Last year the school raised $300 with the Student Council matching the donation, bringing a $600 donation to Relay for Life.

This year the council hopes to donate even more to the American Cancer Society.
