West Chicago Community High School will host the IHSA Drama Sectionals on March 21, where performances will take place in the auditorium and orchestra room.
The West Chicago Community High School drama director, Mark Begovich, has organized the IHSA Drama Sectionals taking place this Saturday. The event will begin with setup at 6:15 a.m., with performances officially starting at 8:30 a.m. The event will run throughout the day, ending around 5 p.m.

The event requires twelve student volunteers who will take on different roles to make sure the day runs smoothly. West Chicago will be welcoming many different high schools to compete and will take on the responsibility of assisting all visitors throughout the day.
In preparation for sectionals, West Chicago drama students have been preparing for their competition. They rehearse frequently and receive detailed feedback.
“As we get closer to the competition, the work gets more intense,” Ava Bloniarz, senior at WCCHS, said. “We rehearse six days a week until 8:00 p.m. in most cases.”
Heading into sectionals, the program is confident in their performances; they know their hard work will pay off. They understand that hosting the event might add extra stress, but are prepared to take on the challenge.
“I believe we can make it to state this year, and I have high hopes,” Jacksonn Crudup, junior at WCCHS, said.
On top of all the hard work they have put in, the event will provide a valuable experience regardless of the outcome. It allows the program to show itself to other schools, learn from their performances, and build connections with other programs.
“They see your work, you see their work, and it just makes for a magical day,” Begovich said.
