Top 5 NFL Pro-Bowl snubs

Over the past few years, the Pro-Bowl has been viewed as a popularity contest, because big name players are making the pro-bowl over deserving players. How many undeserving big name players took the spots of deserving players this year?

#5- QB C.J. Stroud; Houston Texans

In his rookie year, C.J. Stroud has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Stroud led the Texans to the playoffs with a 10-7 record, even though they were sought out to be a bottom 5 team in the league this year. Although, missing 2 games this year Stroud finished the regular season with 4,108 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 167 rushing yards, and 3 rushing touchdowns. Stroud also finished the year with a 63.9 completion percentage and a 100.8 passer rating. Patrick Mahomes was the third quarterback to make the Pro Bowl, and this is who Stroud should have made it over. Mahomes has arguably been the best quarterback over the last 6 years and the biggest name in the whole NFL. Mahomes, in 16 games, finished with 4,183 yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 14 interceptions, a 67.2 completion percentage, and a 92.6 passer rating. On the ground, he ran for 389 yards but did not run in a touchdown.

The Pat McAfee Show

In one extra game, Patrick Mahomes has only 75 more passing yards, 4 more touchdowns, but 9 more interceptions. C.J. Stroud was only the third quarterback to ever lead the league in passing yards per game and touchdown/interception ratio in the same season. Stroud protected the ball well and had the least turnovers in the NFL. Along with protecting the ball better than anyone in the league, he is also in the top 10 in passing yards, yards/game, TD/INT ratio, and passer rating. There should be no question that C.J. Stroud is an MVP, but instead, a bigger name got in.

#4- WR D.J. Moore; Chicago Bears

D.J. Moore was drafted in 2018 by the Carolina Panthers and was a very solid receiver in Carolina. After the 2022-23 season, he was traded to the Chicago Bears along with the 9th overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The Bears also received the Panthers’ 2024 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick. The Bears got Moore and all those picks for the first overall pick in the 2023 draft.

Chicago Bears

Moore’s best season with the Panthers was in 2021 when he had 93 catches for 1,157 yards and 4 touchdowns. Even with below-average quarterbacks in Carolina, Moore was still able to put up pro-bowl numbers. In his first season in Chicago, he put up the best numbers in his career. Moore finished the season with 96 catches for 1,364 yards, and 8 touchdowns (all career highs). Along with having career highs in every category, Moore also had 21 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Moore also had an 89.4 PFF grade which is above the average of 80. D.J. Moore is also #8 in yards after catch with 539 yards. These are pro-bowl stats, and Moore should have made it no doubt.

#3- CB L’Jarius Sneed; Kansas City Chiefs

L’Jarius Sneed has been arguably the best cornerback this year and somehow managed to not make the Pro Bowl. Sneed has been one of the biggest pieces in the uprising of the Chiefs’ defense. After finishing 14th in yards per game last year, their defense was 2nd in yards per game only giving up 288.3 yards per game this year. Kansas City’s defense also went from 18th to 2nd in points per game over the past year giving up 6 fewer points per game this year. This year Sneed was able to have 78 total tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 2 interceptions, and 14 passes defended. Sneed also gave up 5+ catches for 50+ 2 times all season, he also allowed 0 touchdowns on 462 snaps. Not only is he pro-bowl worthy, but he was also All-Pro worthy.

Kansas City Chiefs

Although an exceptional rookie season, Sauce Gardner has not been great this year. He has 57 total tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 12 passes defended. Last season he had 18 more tackles with 75, 2 more interceptions, and 8 more passes defended. This season Sauce allowed 34 catches which was 27th in the NFL, and 358 yards which is 24th in the league. After having one of the best rookie years for a cornerback, he has not been pro-bowl worthy and should have been replaced by L’Jarius Sneed.

#2- WR Amon-Ra St. Brown; Detroit Lions

St. Brown is a rising star in his third year. He has had career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns every year he has played. St. Brown just finished the season tied for second in catches with 119 receptions. He also finished third in the league for most receiving yards with 1,515 yards. He was also only one of seven players to finish the year with at least 10 touchdowns. Amon-Ra also had 10 games of 100+ yards which was 2nd in the league. Mike Evans was the last receiver but had stats nowhere near Amon-Ra. Evans only had 79 catches for 1,255 yards. Although he had 3 more touchdowns, he had 40 fewer catches and 300 fewer yards. Mike Evans has been consistent in his whole career, but Amon-Ra deserved to make the pro-bowl way more.

#1- Safety Antoine Winfield Jr.; Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Antoine Winfield Jr. has been one of the best safeties all season long and somehow did not make the Pro Bowl. This season Winfield has 122 total tackles, 6 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 3 interceptions, and 12 passes defended. He also has a 91.2 PFF rating this year which is 11.2 over the average rating of 80.0.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Budda Baker made it over Winfield for no reason other than his name. Baker throughout the year had 87 total tackles along with 0 sacks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, interceptions, and passes defended. Along with his absence on the stat sheet, he has a 64.0 PFF rating.

Another reason Antoine Winfield should be in the Pro Bowl over Budda Baker is because the Buccaneers made the playoffs this year whereas the Cardinals went 4-13 and had the 4th worst record in the NFL. Winfield Jr. played better all around and it is not even close, it is ridiculous the NFL even considered Budda Baker as a Pro Bowler.
