Move over Crumbl: Dear Donuts has a wide range of flavorful treats and coffees, making it a perfect destination for a snack. These are just three doughnuts of their specialty doughnuts. Vanilla bean on the right, yuzu cheesecake in the middle, and the ube doughnut on the left.

Dear Donuts, 570 S Randall Rd, St. Charles, IL 60174 (331) 235-5960). Drinks $ 2-$7; Corn Dogs $5-$6; Ice cream $4-$6; Donuts $4.

If you are looking for a relaxing, cozy work place to study for exams or just to chill, Dear Donuts is the best option around because of the quick snacks and drinks they offer.

On a cold night in December, around 6:30, my best friend Naomi and I decided to check out this place called Dear Donuts, located in St. Charles. When we walked in, the staff greeted us warmly, and were very welcoming.  There was no music playing, which would have made the environment more pleasant, but the restaurant was tidy and clean. Although the place was not full, it was not empty either.

Our first impression that Dear Donuts offered a very distinct aesthetic: to put it bluntly, the place is just cute. The decorations were on point:  the owners really outdid themselves with the decor. The vibe, which most customers will love, was very relaxing, and filled with a sweet but not strong smell that makes the mouth water.

Dear Donuts is a new doughnut shop that opened this past summer. They sell Korean pastries and drinks. Sophie Kim and her sister Sue Parks own the doughnut shop, and one of the reasons they decided to open this place was because they felt like their community did not have many Asian dessert shops, nor places where people could go study/work at night without worrying about their safety.

When the worker took the orders, she was friendly and efficient; even better, the service was fast. The corn dogs took a few minutes to prepare because they are freshly made on the spot. Altogether, it took about five minutes to receive our whole order, but it was also not very busy inside.

To drink, my friend got the Ube boba, and I got the brown sugar boba. The first sip of the brown sugar boba was a burst of sweetness. The sweetness of the brown sugar hits first, then the coldness of milk, and finally, the zest of the tea. The portion of the tea is small for the price, but overall, it is a delicious sugary drink.

The Korean corn dog, however, was out of this world. The first bite tasted like Heaven, with the crispy yet soft potatoes on the outside, covered with the sweet sugar. The gooey mozzarella cheese on the inside was honestly incredible.

The doughnuts were also a force to be reckoned with. My favorite was the ube doughnut because it had a sugary coat on the outside and a creamy ube filling on the inside. This combination balanced exceptionally well with the sweetness of the doughnut.

Everything at Dear Donuts is fresh. They make the Korean corn dogs as ordered, and donuts are prepared everyday in the morning. Both are very much worth the money.

Dear Donuts is, for sure, a recommended local place that is perfect for studying while taking in great food and drinks, or just highly aesthetic pictures. Be sure to add this restaurant to your bucket list!

Interesting. I am a big fan of donuts myself, but have never had a Korean donut before. May have to give this place a try.

If you’re ever looking for more donut places to review, “Donut Vault” in downtown Chicago makes phenomenal donuts as well.
