Home Run Inn is ready to get a slice of the action – pun intended – but only five frozen pizza brands can make the top 5 list.

The world freezes or maybe that is just the bottom drawer of the refrigerator. Soon, the room heats up in anticipation as the once stone–cold box is set upon a relic built from forefathers in times long gone. The pieces are all in place: meat settles, cheddar melts, and the yeast begins to incinerate. The oven lets out a fearsome roar upon its opening. The pizza is ready. There is so much to admire about frozen pizza: the price, taste, and of course, convenience. The frozen aisle at the grocery store is packed with brands and that can be discerning for customers so here are the Top 5 to brands to reach for.

#5 Giordano’s

There are so many kinds of pizzas to choose from, but none like Giordano’s. From the thick deep dish to their savory sauce, and stretchy pull-apart cheese, who could go wrong with this choice? But the price on this pizza is higher: one delicious pizza can run up to $42.50, and so savvy pizza consumers must question if it is worth making their taste buds happy, or their wallet?

#4 Home Run Inn

The next spot on the list goes to Home Run Inn for the low cost, budget-friendly option with a decent taste. Home Run In also offers a variety of frozen pizzas to select from such as, the Classic Sausage Supreme, Classic Thin Crust, and even the Signature Meat Lovers pizza for those who want a little extra.

#3 DiGiorno

Taking the number three spot is DiGiorno.  With flaky and savory crusts that make the consumer’s taste buds jump with excitement. Such Crusts include the Croissant Crust, Cheese Stuffed Crust, the basic Rising Crust, and even Garlic Bread Pizza. The cooking time for this pizza will be around 10-20 minutes which stands even with most other pizzas. Additionally,  The New York Times describes this delectable treat as “well browned, with a voluminous, puffy crust that was crispy on the bottom and bready but fully cooked throughout.” This makes one really think, “It’s not delivery. It’s DiGiorno.”

#2 Lou Malnati’s

When the question “What is the best pizza in Chicago?” comes up, Lou Malnati’s is often top-of-mind as a quintessential pizza chain. Now, these pizzas  are available at the local grocery store in the form of frozen delight. Lou Malnati’s pizzas are frozen after being made and shipped directly to retail stores or anyone who orders them. This retains the original qualities of the pizza with minimal loss. The classic deep dish pizza is absolutely astounding with its savory cheesy drip and sauce which leaves a taste to yearn for. The only drawback is that the flavor absolutely matches the price and leaves a noticeable dent in bank accounts with a whopping $76.99 with shipping ordered from the website.

#1 Tombstone

Tombstone is the cheap, good-bad food of the bunch. At $5, Tombstone is one of the cheapest frozen pizzas found in the frozen food aisle. With its minimalistic wrapping, toppings, and instructions, it becomes a quick and easy decision when in a rush for some goodness. Tombstone has become a staple of bad frozen pizza that can hit just right when one is craving something light for their stomach and wallet. Other newsletters such as The Insider also seem to agree with its general quality regarding the five-cheese pizza: “The cheese was melty and the crust was an appealing shade of golden brown,” reporters Kim Renfro and Sydney Kramer said.
