Orchestra prepares and practices for the Oct. 17 Halloween-themed concert during class time on the same day.

On Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., the WEGO orchestra will take the stage in Weyrauch Auditorium for their first concert of the year. The orchestra is playing fall songs to match the vibes of the season in their first concert of the school year. The musicians will play “October” and “Evil Eye and the Hideous Heart”, among other festive tunes.

Students are excited to showcase the seven plus weeks of preparation that have gone into this performance.

“My favorite part of orchestra concerts is the way we as a whole orchestra get to show our family members and peers the hard work, dedication, and effort we have put into these pieces of music. Being up on that stage wearing your dress or tuxedo, feeling the warm lights on you shining on your instrument, trying to spot your family in the crowd is such a nerve racking and exciting feeling,” senior orchestra member Melanie Ballines said.

The orchestra is helmed by Sara Austin, who is filling in for Alexandra Wojciechowski while she is on family leave. This will be Austin’s first concert with the WEGO orchestra.

“I’m so glad to have Ms. Austin with us. She has been an amazing teacher. She has such a joyful, nice and comforting personality which always makes my day,” Ballines said.
