Winfield Creamery, 27W460 Beecher Ave STE E, Winfield, IL Scoops start at about $6; house-made waffle cones; floats and other desserts; 24 rotating flavors; ample indoor seating.
Located just past the railroad tracks in downtown Winfield, the creamery is a family-owned business run by Katrina and David Muenster. The couple opened the ice cream shop in December 2025 with the goal of establishing a designated spot for the community to enjoy ice cream.
After months of anticipation, the Winfield Creamery is finally open for business.

For co-owner Katrina Muenster, the idea for the shop sprang from a warm summer day stroll with her youngest son through the downtown Winfield area. It was during that walk that Katrina identified a gap in the neighborhood: there was no ice cream shop within easy walking distance. Inspired by the idea, she began envisioning a place where families and friends could stop for a sweet treat while enjoying the downtown area.
“[I] was hit with the reality that there was no place that was walkable to reach a delicious cold creamy ice cream. And honestly in that moment, I felt an entire vision of what could be ignited in my eyes,” Katrina, according to the Winfield Creamery website, said.
Filled with ambition, Katrina set off to bring her vision to life, with the help of her husband, David, but the journey did not come without its challenges. The couple faced several hurdles leading up to the opening, from setbacks with contractors to having Katrina’s business loan rejected by three different banks, all while working to transform the downtown space into a welcoming environment.

Today, Winfield Creamery offers a rotating selection of 24 flavors, ranging from vanilla, chocolate, and peanut butter-based options, along with dairy-free choices and kid-friendly favorites.

The shop frequently switches up the lineup to keep the menu fresh and cater to a wide range of tastes.
“We’re kind of always looking to see what might attract people in but then also being responsive to people that have a favorite flavor,” Katrina said.
Their scoops are also uniquely named to reflect the community: the Winfield Classic is a single scoop, the Beecher Avenue a double, the Winfield River Walker a triple, and the Winfield Special a quadruple.
Additionally, a smaller Junior Scoop was added after opening to meet customer requests, ensuring there is a size for every appetite.
“The only thing you really need to have is … the belief in your own abilities and dreams to make them come true,” Katrina said.
