What started as a home haunt and later became a commercial haunted house has now expanded with a new attraction – an escape room called “Ritual Escape.” Since its mid-March opening, 5 Points’ latest attraction has begun drawing visitors looking for a new interactive experience beyond the fall haunt season.
5 Points, located in West Chicago, has been open since Oct. 4, 2024, but with 7,000 square feet of space, this new addition is being labeled as one of the largest escape rooms in Illinois.
The concept allows four to 12 players to go through five rooms and choose to stick together or split up in hopes of escaping before time runs out. The experience offers a 60-minute time limit for solving puzzles and finding artifacts. According to the attraction’s website, groups can decide how to move through the space, adding a strategic element to the experience.
Owner Miles McCabe said the escape room is part of the business’s continued expansion beyond its original haunted house concept, which began as a home setup before growing into a larger attraction.
The attraction has already received an 8.88 rating from The Scare Factor, a website that reviews haunted attractions.

“It’s going to be kind of this unique thing, where instead of just an escape room, it’s more of an experience where things are happening around you,” Miles McCabe, owner of 5 Points Haunted House, said.
If participants escape within 30 minutes, they will receive five free tickets to 5 Points Haunted House for the following fall season. Participants who fail to do so are still granted a total of 60 minutes to complete the escape room. With plans for additional escape rooms, Ritual Escape continues to be reviewed and revised.
McCabe also said future plans include expanding the space further, with additional themed rooms and experiences already in development.
“I think it’s a great attraction for those who are into horror,” Jori Jones, West Chicago Community High School speech-language pathologist, said.
The opening weekend of Ritual Escape sold out, reflecting early interest in the attraction.
“Come check it out. We got a lot of exciting stuff happening,” McCabe said.
