The smell of cologne that hits patrons as soon as they walk in, combined with the lights on the ceiling, creates the feeling of being part of a photo shoot. The holidays are around the corner, and here are the top five best haircuts for the 2025 holiday season to help people show up, stand out, and feel confident.
Haircuts are a way to feel more confident. According to social media posts advertising flash haircuts and modern styles, barbers in 2025 are elevating their craft, continuing their education beyond barber school in order to deliver higher-quality cuts and set their own prices. This is very different from the early 2000s. In the early 2000s, many barbers skipped formal barber school, focused on quick haircuts, and aimed to see as many clients as possible to make money. The barber industry has made a full 180 to get to where it is today.
According to WEGO students surveyed in the lunchroom and library between Oct. 27–28, these are the haircuts students are looking forward to getting for the holiday season.
#5 Buzz cut

The buzz cut is popular with people who want a fresh start with their hair. The buzz cut is achieved by using a clipper with any guard below an eight to keep the top short. People have gotten creative with this style, adding designs, faded buzz cuts or keeping the length even all around. This look is mostly known for military soldiers when they join the military, but younger generations are redefining what the buzz cut represents.
#4 shear/ flow cut

The flow cut is more for people who don’t like skin-fade-style haircuts. The haircut only uses shears to cut the hair all around, taking sections from the head to create movement and maintain an even shape. The haircut got really popular in the 1980s and 1990s in America and is gaining popularity again with younger crowds.
#3 fade

The fade has always been a fan favorite for people of all ages. The haircut goes all around the head and can have a V-shaped finish or a U-shaped finish that dips slightly in the back to give the head a fuller appearance while keeping the hair short at the bottom, or it can be cut straight around the head.
#2 Burst fade

A lot of people who get the burst fade tend to be younger, which is why it has grown in popularity recently. The burst fade is a modern-day mohawk with more hair on top and a burst effect around the ear. The haircut is typically done with a design on the side, depending on personal preference. The hair closer to the ear is cut shorter, and the hair gradually gets longer as the fade moves upward.
#1 taper

The taper is a haircut that offers multiple styling options on top while keeping length and maintaining a clean look. The haircut consists of the temples on the sides and the back gradually getting shorter as the cut moves downward. People usually go down to the skin for a sharper finish but can also choose a non-skin taper.
Whether it is a classic fade, a bold burst fade or a clean taper, these trending haircuts reflect how students are using style as a form of self-expression heading into the holiday season. As barbers continue to elevate their craft and trends evolve, these cuts show that confidence and individuality remain at the center of modern grooming choices at WEGO.
