Walk into certain classrooms at West Chicago Community High School, and one is bound to notice more than desks in a row and stark whiteboards. Instead, fairy lights glow softly, posters encourage growth and share memorable quotes, and fresh, inviting aromas invite students into the space. Warm and comfortable classrooms create a welcoming and home-like environment for many students.
An aesthetic classroom is one with thoughtful elements, like plants and greenery, soft lighting, and flexible seating options. What makes a classroom aesthetic is more than just the room though: It is the teacher as well. A lot of teachers dress similarly to the aesthetic of their classroom, which adds to the at-home feeling students get when walking into that classroom.

#5 Mrs. Fireman’s Room (2147)
Some, including teacher Leslie Fireman, may call it messy, but rooms 2146-2147 are really a showcase. Every wall reflects the hard work Fireman’s students put into their projects. Looking around at the artificial grass wall, the aroma of coffee fills the room while the beeping from the microwave sends gourmet smells into the mix. The bubbling of fresh hot tea adds to the cozy atmosphere of the lab, which offers comfortable seating for journalists hard at work. The lived-in energy of the space shows just how much creativity happens there, even if the clutter does put this classroom in fifth place.

#4 Mrs. Culbertson’s Room (2430)
Dim lights, and college flags fill the room as AVID students enter Jennifer Culbertson’s class. The colorful lamp at the door may catch some students’ attention, though many walk past without a glance. Still, Culbertson’s classroom feels calm and inviting, with natural light streaming through the windows that look out into a cluster of trees. The thoughtful balance between work and relaxation makes the room a quiet haven on a busy school day.

#3 Ms. Almarales’ Room (2124)
Vines drape to the left and right as students enter a room known for its cozy, relaxing atmosphere. The dim lighting and fairy lights create a feeling closer to a spa than a classroom. Daniella Almarales’ laid-back vibe allows teens to feel like they “fit” in her room and do not want to leave. Her attention to aesthetic detail makes the space feel peaceful yet full of personality.

#2 Mrs. Deleon (2125)
Greeted with a picture collage, the scent of mint, soft music, and Tara Deleon’s warm smile, students instantly feel at ease. The big windows, large bookshelf, and fairy lights draped along the wall make the classroom feel like home, especially on a rainy or cloudy day. The welcoming decor mirrors her caring personality, creating a space that encourages students to relax and learn.

#1 Ms. Smalley (1113)
When looking for a room to brighten up one’s day, do not count Sarah Smalley’s space out! A sparkly disco ball greets you at the door, setting the tone for a space that’s nothing short of welcoming. Her trendy outfits and cheerful energy make the classroom feel like spending time with a close friend. The pops of color and lively decor reflect her creativity and land her room firmly in first place.

Gotta say I can’t agree with the rankings with Fireman and Culbertson. Definitely not bias or anything but from personal experience they definitely go higher in terms of rankings. Just saying
