On Oct. 15, Memorial Field hosted the West Aurora Blackhawks for the Wildcat Boys Soccer Senior night.
Peter Bovey (6), Aiden Durbin, captain (7), Kuba Slupski (9), Abraham Salinas, captain (10), Yurem Siu (14), Omar Lutfiyev (16), Dimitry Stetsik, captain (17), Luigi Izidio (18), Hugo Martinez (20), Sarhat Alhammo (21), and Leo Posada (23), were all equally recognized for their commitment to the team. Managers Alina Fernandez, Marlene Perez, Liliana Calderon, and Camila Ceron were also recognized for their help and contributions to the team.

“Meeting new players and my teammates, it really shaped me to the player I am today,” senior Kuba Slupski said. “And especially having Dorian all four years, it really shaped the way I think mentally of the game.”
Slupski has been on varsity all four years at WEGO and he continues to strive. He ended his season with a total of 13 goals made, 2 of them made against West Aurora. His consistent power on the field helps him to be the teammate he is, always motivating and hyping others up on the field.

“It’s been a journey. I love seeing the new talent come in every year, and it’s just the all new mindsets are amazing,” senior Dimitry Stetsik said.
Even though Stetsik has only been on varsity for two years, and is now out due to an injury, his commitment does not go unnoticed. He shows up, gives it his all on the bench while cheering for his teammates, and has served as captain this past season. His teamwork, communication, and drive allows him to stay motivated and persistent on and off the field.

“In and out, they really make you feel comfortable with each other,” senior Aiden Durbin said.
The team is like a family, always being together and spending every game and off-hour bonding. Head coach Jose Villa and Dorian Carrasco are nothing but proud of their players and the seniors they’ve have had this past season.
“It was a special night. A special night because being our last home game, crossover championship game, meaningful night, we want to send our seniors off in the best way possible,” assistant coach Dorian Carrasco said. “Bringing another championship home is, you know, something that they truly enjoyed and they worked hard for.”

Moving forward, The Wildcats are ready to go and advance to Regionals, which is next Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 5pm at Elk Grove. The Wildcats will be playing against the Proviso West Panther, since they clenched the crossover championship in the West Division.
