The West Chicago Wildcats secured a dominant 61–6 victory over the Elmwood Park Tigers on Oct. 3 at Memorial Field, capping off their Homecoming celebration with a decisive win.
West Chicago controlled the game from start to finish, with strong defensive play setting the tone early. The defense recorded multiple tackles behind the line of scrimmage and stopped the Tigers on several key plays.
“Our guys had to step up and execute plays. We had a lot of backups in because of injuries. I wanted to give some guys a look and give some of the backups a chance and they executed well,” football coach Malko Odishoo said.

Despite missing several starters, West Chicago’s backups rose to the challenge, helping the team score nine touchdowns throughout the night. On the Wildcats’ first offensive play, junior Liam Zbierski took a handoff to the end zone, but the touchdown was called back due to a holding penalty. On the very next play, Zbierski ran again, reaching the two-yard line and setting up an early scoring drive.
“It was really exciting, a lot of touchdowns. It’s always nice to come off of a win so hopefully we can keep winning,” junior Cesar Munoz said.
For fans, the game was packed with action on both sides of the ball. West Chicago will need to carry this momentum into next week as they face a tough opponent, Glenbard East. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 4–2 overall and 2–1 in conference play, while Elmwood Park remains winless at 0–6.
“Our defense really just took things away, they set us [the offense] up in a perfect position,” sophomore Jordan Tamayo said. “I hope to bring things up in practice so I can hopefully get a chance to get called up again in the near future.”
