The West Chicago Wildcats soared over the Ridgewood Rebels in a 66-20 victory on Sept. 19 at Memorial Field.
The Wildcats brought home the win on a rainy day. Senior QB Carter Naranjo scored five touchdowns, leading the team. The Wildcats played hard for the entire game and it paid off on both sides of the field. The Rebels fought on both sides of the ball but came up empty on multiple possessions.

“I think football played great! They had awesome plays on both offense and defense. It was awesome to watch,” Pep Club adviser Elizabeth Mastroianni said.
The Wildcats dominated on the offensive side of the ball. With nine touchdowns and multiple two-point conversions, the team hopes to take this momentum into next week.
We improved mostly on defense this week, making big stops when we needed it most, like the tackle I made on the first drive of the game on fourth down to give our offense good field position,” junior Geoffrey Fleming said. “Roman [Zolota] also had two interceptions that set our offense up really well. Discipline and sticking to our assignments was probably the biggest improvement.”
On the defensive side, the Wildcats managed to hold the Rebels to just 20 points. Zolota had two interceptions last night. West Chicago had some pivotal stops on defense, keeping control of the game. Field position also proved key in helping the Cats pick up a win this week.
“The game went really good, the defense was playing great,” sophomore Derek Murphy said. “The offense also had a great game, with people stepping up for injured players. We are going to take the momentum we have from the win this week into next week, and take the same winning mentality too.”
