As part of their experience at the National High School Journalism Convention in Philadelphia, Chronicle staff members had the chance to visit PhillyCam, the city’s public access broadcast station. There, they stepped into the roles of hosts, producers, and camera operators—learning firsthand what it is like to create a television segment in a professional studio environment.

This opportunity was made possible through the support of the WCCHS Education Foundation, whose grant covered the PhillyCam visit along with conference registration and contest fees.

In this second episode of “The Wildcat Chronicle Takes Over PhillyCam,” host Danny Stoklasa leads a thoughtful conversation with guests Aly Dusing, Sami Moesch, and Diego Villafuerte. Their segment showcases student voice, creativity, and on-camera confidence.

Danny Stoklasa, Reporter

Danny Stoklasa is a senior, and this is his first year at the Wildcat Chronicle. He has a very strong passion for artistic hobbies such as drawing, sculpting, and painting. He also likes playing his guitar, and his favorite nights are spent out longboarding with his friends. His goal is to gain experience in researching topics he cares about while sharing opinions others can relate to, and also to try his best to make people laugh while doing so.

Aly Dusing, Managing Editor

Alyson (Aly) Dusing is an outgoing and engaging senior who enjoys making new connections and spending time with people she values. She strives to earn inspiring opportunities and continue to grow in academic, social, artistic, and other aspects. Once she graduates, Aly plans to pursue her dream career as a criminal defense attorney, hopefully somewhere where harsh winters do not exist.

Sami Moesch, Columnist

Sami is a senior in her fifth semester of Journalism and is a columnist for the Wildcat Chronicle. She first joined to try something new and has since developed a passion for storytelling. Her work has been nationally recognized—she is a national award winner in feature writing and a Best of SNO recipient for her photo essay on the annual senior paper drop. Beyond journalism, Sami plays Varsity soccer at WEGO in the spring and competes year-round with her local club team. When she is not on the field or reporting, she enjoys listening to Fleetwood Mac, Zach Bryan, and Jeff Buckley. She also unwinds by watching “Pretty Little Liars.” Looking ahead, Sami hopes to pursue a career in criminal psychology, keeping her curiosity and passion for learning at the forefront of her future.

Diego Villafuerte, Reporter

Diego Villafuerte is a senior at West Chicago Community High School, and he is still undecided as to what he wants to do in the future. Yet, he has a few choices in mind, such as being an electrician, architect, or pursuing metalworks. In his free time, Diego likes hanging out with friends and participating in a variety of activities, such as longboarding, exploring new places, and photography. Diego also plays the piano as a hobby. His favorite music artists are BrenJoy and Bungalow Collect, and you can often find him listening to songs such as “Fiji fine”, “Henny in the Hamptons”, and “Normalized”.
