“Cry Me A River.” “Senorita.” “Mirrors.” “Suit & Tie.” “Holy Grail.”
These are all great tracks that represent Justin Timberlake’s abilities as a singer/songwriter.
Timberlake emerged as a solo artist in the early 2000s, but his journey into stardom began long before that, as a key member of one of the most successful boy bands in history, NSYNC.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Timberlake’s journey in the music world began at the age of 14 when he joined NSYNC in the late 1990s. The group dominated the pop scene with hits like “Bye Bye Bye” and “Tearin’ Up My Heart,” becoming a global sensation. But in 2002, a great tragedy occurred when Timberlake made the bold decision to embark on a solo career, leading to the release of his debut album, “Justified.” His smooth vocals and genre-blending style quickly solidified him as a force to be reckoned with in pop music.
While so many of his songs are fab, only five make the top of this list and illustrate Timberlake’s evolution as an artist and his lasting impact on pop music.
#5 “Selfish”
“Selfish” is from JT’s new album “Everything I Thought I Was” which came out in March. This was a single first before the album came out. This is the first song we hear from Justin in a long time. It was a refreshing nice song, that you can listen to doing whatever. The beat is upbeat but also has a nice slow, soft grove to it. The lyrics to the song are well-written.
“Selfish” is from JT’s new album, “Everything I Thought I Was,” which dropped in March. It was released as a single before the album and is the first new music fans have heard from him in a long time. It is definitely a nice refresher! The song has this chill, slow groove, but still manages to feel upbeat. It is the kind of track that works whether one is driving, studying, or just hanging out. The lyrics are heartfelt, and the melody sticks with the listener—definitely a win for anyone who has been missing JT.
#4 “Pusher Love Girl”
“Pusher Love Girl,” from “The 20/20 Experience (Delux Version),” starts off like a classical song before the beat drops, changing the mood to an upbeat dance track. The way Timberlake talks about love being addictive is creative and catchy. It is one of those songs that just makes listeners want to hit repeat, especially when one is in the mood for something that feels fresh but still classic JT. “Pusher Love Girl” is also perfect for a workout playlist.
#3 “Until the End of Time”
Okay, if there was ever a song people would want to play at their wedding, it’s “Until the End of Time.” This ballad, featuring Beyoncé in the duet version, is slow and sweet, with vocals that blend perfectly. Plus, Justin and Beyoncé singing together! Amazing to see and hear live. Their voices melt together, like candy to the ears, and it is just one of those songs that feels like it was made for a karaoke duet or for getting lost in the moment. No surprise this track hit the top 20 on the Billboard charts—it is pure magic.
#2 “My Love”
“My Love” is a bop. This is another great song to dance to, or even sing to a crush as a serenade. The track is from “FutureSex/LoveSounds,” which is one of Timberlake’s best albums. The song features rapper T.I., which seems like an unexpected collaboration, but it works so well. “My Love” is one of those tracks that gets stuck in people’s heads in the best way possible.
#1 “Rock your Body”
“Rock Your Body,” from the “Justified” album, is one of Justin’s most popular – and best – tracks (besides “Sexy Back”, which unfortunately did not make the list). “Rock Your Body” just has that feel-good energy that makes listeners want to get up and dance. This one climbed to the top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and will never get old because the beat is timeless and the lyrics are too good to forget. Whether at a party or just in the mood to dance, “Rock Your Body” always makes listeners feel happy.
