The girls badminton team had a clean sweep against the Larkin Royals during their senior night on Monday April 22 in the field house at West Chicago Community High School.
The girls had an emotional night in the beginning as they realized that this is the last time they could warm up and play at home. The girls warmed up waiting for the Larkin Royals to arrive and the wildcats set their goals.
“The wildcats had amazing wins and played well to represent our program,” Varsity Coach Emily Brown said.
Varsity went 12-3 and Jv and F/S went 15-0 on the night to give the Wildcats the win. The Wildcats had 6 of 8 seniors from last year return to support this year’s seniors and show how close these bonds have become inside of this program. These girls have done so much for the program leading them to six straight sweeps (15-0) in conference. They have also been great leaders for the program.
“I formed a close bond with my teammates and formed a family while also gaining so many skills such as perseverance and self-motivation. Playing with my teammates meant being a role model and never giving up. They were my motivation to progress and achieve my goals. I constantly encouraged them the same way they encouraged me, making us a very successful team,” senior Yohana Mora said.

After the games were played the players were surprised with a senior night cake with all of their names on it. The seniors also received flowers. The players were also surprised by their alumni coming an supporting them on their senior night.
“They have been so great for our program and I will miss them,” Coach Brown said.
