Donations help families during holiday season
December 7, 2015
The holiday season is full of giving and with Adopt a Family, students and staff have the opportunity to help families have a bright holiday season.
“Adopt a Family is locally ran out of Winfield Township. Families that are in need ask Adopt a Family for assistance for providing their family with a good holiday season whether it is buying them gifts or groceries,” student activities director Marc Wolfe said.
The administration adopted three families.
In the Student Activity Center two giving trees stand with ornaments on them.
Each ornament has a family member’s name and a requested gift for each individual in that family. The gifts will be delivered to the families.
Anyone can choose to participate in Adopt a Family either as an individual, as a team, club, in a class hour, or family. To donate items, students and staff must select an ornament which has a requested gift to purchase.
After taking a gift suggestion, tell administrative assistant Lynn Boothe or Wolfe which family the giver chose.
This is the first year in which Adopt a Family is occurring.
“I do Adopt A Family every year personally with my family and I did it at my previous school that I worked at. This year I decided to call Winfield Township to see if it was a possibility and they were more then happy to give us a couple of families to adopt,” Wolfe said.
The deadline to purchase a gift for a family is Dec. 14.
