As part of “Rainbow Week, the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is holding a bake sale until Friday and to bring awareness to their club and fundraise for it.

“Rainbow Week” is where students wear different colors of the rainbow on different days to represent the LGBTQ+ community.

The days remaining are Thursday and Friday. The colors are blue for Thursday and purple for Friday.

Along with the “Rainbow Week,” there is a bake sale.

Cookies, rainbow krispie treats, and rainbow pretzels are being sold at the bake sale along with paper hands.

“The hands will be available so that people can write and post messages of support for LGBTQ+ people and organizations to demonstrate the level of support in the school,” GSA advisor Brad Larson said.

This is the second year GSA is holding a bake sale.

Last year’s bake sale went very well,” Larson said. “We sold out of baked goods very quickly.”

The pastries are made by the GSA members in the Family and Consumer Science kitchens.

The pastries are sold for a $1 each.

One of the other activities GSA is participating in the National Silence Day on Friday. Students who participate in this event will remain silent for the entire day. The silence expresses the struggle the LGBTQ+ community has faced for many years.
