The Art Club at West Chicago Community High School held a winter jewelry sale from Wednesday, Dec. 10, through Friday, Dec. 12, selling handmade jewelry to students during all lunch hours.

Art Club is a student organization that allows members to express creativity through hands-on art projects and school events.

“Students in Art Club work together to make creative projects like jewelry and help promote the club through school events,” Art Club member Allison Komaniecki said.

The sale featured necklaces, earrings, and bracelets designed and made by club members. Students could choose from both holiday-themed and everyday designs, and items were sold while supplies lasted.

“All pieces were designed and constructed by our Art Club members,” art teacher Megan Dulkinys said. “The sale gave students a chance to share their creativity with the school community.”

“Earrings and bracelets were $3 for one and $5 for two, and the necklaces were $5 each,” Komaniecki said. “When people heard about the deal, they’d usually just give us $5 and buy two – sometimes as gifts.”

Prices were kept low to make it easier for students to purchase items with cash during lunch periods. Club leaders encouraged bundle deals so students would not have to worry about exact change.

“A lot of kids aren’t carrying around $3, so $5 was a good amount for everything,” Komaniecki said.

The jewelry sale also helped bring attention to Art Club, which has not been as popular in recent years. Members worked together to create the jewelry and organize the booth, labeling items and setting pieces aside for students who planned to return later with money. Both teachers and students stopped by, and many purchased jewelry as gifts for family members. The sale allowed Art Club to connect with more students during the school day while raising money for future activities.

“It was nice seeing people excited about what we made,” Komaniecki said. “It helped show what Art Club is about and support the club at the same time.”
