Friends and family members mourn the death of senior Fabian Carlos who passed away on April 15.
A memorial service was held at the DuPage Memorial Chapel on Monday. A funeral was held on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in West Chicago.
“His body was taken to St. Mary’s. After the mass there were lots of people dressed in white. The place was full. I was very blessed that everyone surrounded us,” Carlos’ mother, Elisa Ballines, said.
Carlos now rests at Calvary Cemetery in West Chicago.
“He was cheerful, he had lots of friends, and was always smiling and joking. He was very outgoing. He had a lot of goals in his life, (like) to get his job he was looking into. He was excited about finishing high school,” Ballines said.
One of Carlos’ hobby was culinary arts.
“He wanted to take some culinary classes. He loved to cook and loved to bake. And he loved taking care of his little sisters,” Ballines said.
English teacher Tara Deleon attended the memorial service of her former student.
“I just think anytime in the death of any student I had I would want (the family) to know that this person was in my classroom and made a difference in my life and that I care. He was very respectful,” Deleon said.
