New gaming club may merge with existing group

After Tabletop’s first meeting on Jan. 12, the possibility of Tabletop becoming a part of Video Game Club emerged.

Tabletop is a club where students come to play board games.

“I hope to provide a relaxing space where people can just have fun and be themselves,” sophomore club president Zane Hassan said.

Members vote on what games they wish to play for the next meeting and then they bring the games.

The idea of the two clubs joining came about as a way to expand gaming opportunities.

“I think it would be a good idea because more people would get to meet each other and give people the opportunity to choose what they want to play instead of just always having to play video games or board games. It would just be nice to have a mix,”  freshman club vice president Jacquelyn Butler said.

If Tabletop and Video Game Club do merge, Video Game Club would meet at their usual spot in commons while Tabletop would meet in the student activity center. Students would be able to switch between both clubs.

“If you finish a game of Fluxx, you can go play a round of Call of Duty,” Hassan said.

Whether or not the clubs do join, Hassan and Butler hope students will be able to relax and enjoy themselves in the club.
