Club Green will be hosting a competitive shoe drive from Jan. 25-29.

Any type of shoes, as long as they are gently used and in good condition, will be accepted for the shoe drive.

“It could be your prom heels that you don’t fit into anymore. It could be your little brother’s or sister’s snow boots or gym shoes from last year,” adviser Brianne Ferreiro said.

The shoes will be collected by Club Green and shipped to ShoeHeals.

“It’s more local and (a non profit organization) that repurposes the shoes for people in the Chicagoland area. If you’re low on money and you don’t have shoes, this is a place that will provide you with a free pair of shoes,” Ferreiro said.

Club Green hopes enough students participate in the shoe drive to surpass the numbers raised in previous years.

“Last time we collected about 250 shoes. I’d like to reach at least 250 again,” adviser Suzanne Burchaki said.

The competition has been set up so that every third hour class has a chance at winning, regardless of class size. The winning class will receive a cupcake party.

McTeacher night is up next on Club Green’s schedule. In March, teachers will be serving at McDonald’s as a fundraiser.  No further information was given about the fundraiser.
