Leading the team was senior Ryan Alvarado, who claimed first place in the 126-pound weight class. Alvarado delivered a dominant performance, securing victories in all four of his matches. He began with a pin against Aidan Durell from Plainfield North in the opening round, followed by a decision over Isaac Zimmerman of Lockport Township in the quarterfinals. Alvarado advanced to the finals with a major decision against Justin Godina of Lockport before pinning Tyler Clarke of Glenwood to take home the championship. His efforts contributed 27 team points, earning praise from the coaching staff.
“Ryan had a spectacular performance… His efforts both on and off the mat reflect his dedication to this year’s program,” Coach Miguel Silva said.
Senior Santino Milazzo, wrestling at 144 pounds, also excelled with a third-place finish. After an early setback in the quarterfinals, Milazzo rebounded with a series of victories in the consolation bracket, including two pins and a major decision.
