Four-year golfer, sophomore Kendall Farm remains undefeated for the season and is now heading to state Friday and Saturday.

Farm won first place on Sept. 24 at the Upstate Eight Conference, regionals on Oct. 4, and sectionals on Oct. 8.

Farm shot a 79 in the conference at The Bridges of Poplar Creek, shot an 84 in regionals at St. Andrews, and shot an 83 at Fox Run in sectionals.

I am excited because it is the first big tournament that I won on the school team,” Farm said. “I didn’t think that I was going to win because there were other good players.”

Four years ago, Farm began playing golf with her cousin and then she decided to play for the school.

“I started playing golf because my cousin plays and she is really good, so I wanted to try it too,” Farm said.

Farm manages to balance school and her athletic life regardless of all the practice.

“Sometimes it was stressful and difficult with balancing school and golf,” Farm said. “Golf takes a lot of time, so sometimes it is hard to balance it with school. If I have a lot of homework I will do it on the bus to the matches and stay up late to finish it.”

This is the first time Farm made it to state.

“I am really excited because I didn’t even make it past regionals last year and now I am going to state,” Farm said.

The state tournament will be held in Decatur.

“I am going to prepare by going early and playing the course,” Farm said. “(Mentally) I just try to forget about the bad shots and take the good shots as motivation to keep playing how I am or play better.”

For those who want to improve in golf, Farm has a few words of advice.

“If you want to play golf then come to join the team next year,” Farm said. “(Also) just keep practicing to get better and come out for the team because that will help get practice and don’t stop playing if you have a bad round.”
