Hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, lyrical and tap dances were performed at the Dance Production Showcase Jan. 19 and 21.

Nineteen girls and 23 dance numbers were featured in the performance.

The girls worked all semester in their gym class and in after school rehearsals starting in October. Putting on the production was part of the final for the girls in the class.

Gym teacher Jordan Covella directed the show.

Covella tried to keep the production the same as years past with help from the girls.

“I liked seeing it all come together and the hard work the girls put in all semester,” Covella said.

Junior Alexis Perezchica choreographed one dance to “Unsteady,” she also danced in nine dances.

“My favorite part was being able to put lots of emotion to the dances and doing my own choreography,” Perezchica said.

Seniors Daniela Ballines, Karen Garcia, and Ari Coss tried dance production for the first time this year.

“I love how we all came together,” Ballines said.

Overall, all the girls said the production was a success and they had a lot of fun.

Anyone can join dance production. Tryouts will be held in April for the 2017-2018 school year.
