Three senior athletes committed to play their respective sports in college by signing a National Letter of Intent as parents, coaches and family members watched the athletes  Wednesday.

Senior Madison Kassaros signed with Eastern Illinois University to play volleyball. Senior Tai Bibbs signed to play basketball for Drake University and senior Natalie Nelson signed with Northern Iowa University for swimming and is a state qualifier in swimming.

“I was nervous but excited when I signed for the University of Northern Iowa,” Nelson said. “After all of my visits, I knew that (University of Northern Iowa) was where I wanted to go. I am hoping to get better as an athlete and get a good education.”

Others were happy to move on to college from high school.

“I find it relieving that I signed. It is exciting because I get to start a new chapter of my life. It’s official as well and it is such a good feeling,” Kassaros said.

Athletes have set goals for themselves while at college.

Kassaros wants to get good grades at Eastern Illinois University while balancing her education.

Bibbs is thrilled to be a student-athlete at Drake University.

“It is exciting. I have worked very hard while playing basketball. I want to be a good student and learn how to be a good leader at Drake,” Bibbs said.
