Although the girls golf season ended with a loss, the team continues to be motivated and optimistic.

The team went to regionals at Glendale Lakes on Oct. 5.

“It was a good way to end the season. I think we did pretty well. None of us had a personal best, but we placed in the 400’s. We beat another team,” junior captain Kyra Saflarski said.

None of the girls placed high enough to move onto sectionals.

“I’m a little disappointed, but we all did our best and that’s all I can ask for. We definitely improved,” junior Jenna Castelluccio said.

The team plans to continue practicing for the rest of the year.

“We’re going to practice a lot, the coach has already decided that. We are planning on practicing at least 25 times over the summer, which is a lot. We’ll also do a lot of team bonding,” Castelluccio said.

Even though the season was not ideal, the team enjoyed the family-like bond they developed.

“This year it was our goal to get to know each other better. We went over to each other’s houses and got these cool jackets. At regionals, we were laughing and poking fun at each other, in a friendly way. We’re comfortable with each other, but we do support each other,” Saflarski said.

Girls golf helped many girls with their character.

“It’s taught me a lot of discipline. I know it doesn’t seem like it, but golf is a very tough sport. When I started, I was terrible, but I’m definitely better now,” Castelluccio said.
