Culinary Club is finding success after catering at different school functions.

“I came up with the idea of Culinary Club because there are lots of students who finish with foods three and (ask) now what do we do?  So, I thought it will be fun for students that have gone through all levels and for people who can’t fit a foods class in their schedule to have a Culinary Club,”  adviser Patricia Clifford said.

The club’s goal is to learn different techniques with cooking and to cater at different events.

Members enjoy Culinary Club.

“I became part of Culinary Club because cooking is something that I love to do. I also just wanted to try something new,” sophomore Joelle Castelluccio said.

The club is building their cooking skills to prepare different foods.

“I started out thinking we might do different types of cooking but we have been hired already by two different groups to cater parties,” Clifford said.

Culinary Club catered cookies to the administration on Sept. 15 to honor the new teachers.

“We made three different types of cookies and plated them really pretty with some curly ribbons. We had about 30 kids who showed up to cater and they made more than enough,” Clifford said.

Catering cookies to the administration benefited the club.

“The administration is paying for the cookies so the profit we made is a fundraiser for the club,” Clifford said.

Another event the club catered for was a reception to honor the 2015 Distinguished Alumni, Ray Stejskal, on Oct. 1.

We made frosting for the cupcakes. We cut up the cheese and salami and set everything up,” Clifford said.

The Culinary Club allows students to connect by doing something they enjoy.

“It is important because people are able to connect to one another through food,” Castelluccio said.

Clifford hopes to expand the club more in the future.

“We hope that it will be a club next year. We have beautiful kitchens. We hope to expand different foods and garnishes and let the students do things they have not tried at home,” Clifford said.

Club days vary depending on jobs the club is doing.
