WeGo Global is partnering with several organizations to ensure water, one of the world’s most important resources, is protected.

Over the course of the semester, WeGo Global will hold various fundraisers to raise money for charitynavigator.org, water.org, and cleanwaterfund.org.

“Generally, we donate to an organization and they determine where it’s needed,” adviser Margaret Haas said.

Upcoming fundraisers include selling water bottles with water facts written on them, candy sales, and bake sales every other week.

“We also trick-or-treat for spare change on Halloween instead of candy,” senior member of WeGo Global’s executive board Vanessa Hasbun said.

Another event is WeGo Global’s partnership with the girls cross-country team.

“This started last year. Our home meet is Race for Awareness. We’ll be selling T-shirts and water bottles and will be donating the profits to one of the charities Wego Global picked out,” senior cross-country captain and WeGo Global member Shelley Parat said.

The meet will take place Oct. 9, at Kress Creek Farm at 4:30 p.m.

WeGo Global is also planning a trip to Costa Rica in July.

“Part of the day is spent volunteering and the other part is building leadership skills,” Haas said about the purpose of going to Costa Rica.

The trip will help students gain experience on how to make an impact on a larger level.
