Free school supplies are available to students as Club Green does its annual school supply donation.

Advisers Suzanne Burchacki and Brianne Ferreiro got the idea of donating school supplies at a conference.

“At the conference we were like, ‘wow that is such a good idea.’ So, we decided to run a school supply donations since it was such a good idea,” Burchacki said.

The tradition of giving students free school supplies started eight years ago. Students can get notebooks, loose-leaf paper, and folders.

“We have a pretty hefty supply because when they were doing renovations, they found boxes of brand new supplies that were never used. They bought it for some program that they didn’t use,” Ferreiro said.

After donating the supplies Club Green is planning on collecting empty water bottles and recycling them, as well as a creek sweep.

“In November we are thinking of doing a creek sweep where we go to Kress Creek. Last spring we did it where we picked up tons of trash and it turned out to be successful,” Burchacki said.

Students interested in free supplies should go to Burchaki’s classroom in room 235. Club Green meets the second and third Tuesday of each month.
